Life can be unpredictable and for those times when emergencies happen, the Casualty Unit is there, 24/7. It is well equipped to handle both accident and emergency situations. Professional, experienced medical teams are on hand to ensure that every patient, irrespective of their condition, receives the highest level of emergency care. For your convenience, 24 hours radiology and pathology services are based onsite.

ER Consulting Inc. (Drs Holt and Partners) took over the management of the Casualty in October 2018. They are the leading independent emergency unit management company in South Africa, currently managing 24 emergency units nationally.

Full time emergency doctors will be based in the Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital Emergency Department 24 hours per day, and are therefore available to treat each and every emergency that presents in the shortest possible time. In line with international standards of care, ER Consulting Inc. employs the triage system (SATS) to ensure that patients are seen and treated appropriately according to the acuity of their illness or injury.

Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital’s maternity team is committed to providing moms and their babies with the best care, nurturing and giving undivided attention, before, during and after birth.

They want to make sure that you and your baby’s stay with us is as comfortable and relaxing as possible, confident that the staff will help you in every way possible to enjoy this special time.

Furnished in soft, inviting tones, the Maternity Unit provides moms and their babies with the highest level of care and attention in an environment that promotes calm and tranquility. Private and Semi-Private Suites, unsuited bathrooms, jacuzzi and spa bath for water births and pain control, secure nursery with large viewing window and other unique elements work together with experienced, compassionate midwives and staff to create a calming, bonding environment for mom and baby. The safe, secure newborn nursery is situated within the unit, and is access controlled.

A variety of other services are on offer, including breast-feeding education, childbirth preparation education, physician attended delivery, and a complimentary newborn gift pack. Dads are encouraged to share in the memorable and intimate experiences of a new baby which means moms get support and dads also share this special time with baby. There is even a double private suite so dad can stay.

• A fully equipped Neonatal ICU adjacent to the nursery ensures special needs babies are given the specialised care they need.
• For a comfortable, safe and healing experience for mom and baby, visiting is restricted and visitors are asked to abide by the visiting times.
• Open visiting hours are from 15:00 to 16:00 and 19:00 – 20:00 daily. No children under the age of 12 are allowed except baby’s siblings, if accompanied by an adult. Visitors are limited to four per patient.
• Other visitors are encouraged to wait in the comfortable pause areas.
• Dads are encouraged to visit between 09:00 and 21:00 but are asked to leave by 21:00 to allow moms to get the rest they need.
• Cuddle time for grandparents and baby’s siblings is between 11:00 and 12:00 and from 16:00 to 16:30.

The paediatric ward’s experienced paediatric nurses together with a playful, farmyard theme and overnight facilities for parents, ensure that a sick child receives the best care possible in a friendly, nurturing environment. Parents have an important role to play in their child’s care, because they know their needs best, and therefore it is encouraged that one parent to stay with their child. Each bed has a comfortable recliner next to it. Because having a child in hospital is stressful and tiring, the Mom’s Lodge gives parents the opportunity to take a little time out when possible. There are facilities to shower and freshen up, a kitchenette with microwave, and self-service tea and coffee.

There is open visiting for parents and carers, but for all other visitors, visiting hours are from 11:00 to 12:00 and 15:00 to 16:00. As a general rule, no visitors under the age of 12 are allowed in the unit.

To keep the children occupied, each ward has a bright fun play area and every bed has a TV with child-friendly programmes, and a selection of DVDs .

Designed with patient-comfort in mind, the unique ward configurations range from en-suite semi-private (two, three, or four-beds), and private rooms, to executive suites, providing patients with a higher level of luxury and convenience. All general wards are equipped with modern electric beds, and individual TVs with DSTV.

Visiting is from 11:00 – 12:00, 15:00 – 16:00, and 19:00 – 20:00 daily. Visitors under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult and visitors are limited to three per patient.

The Short Stay Ward provides a convenient and comfortable environment for patients needing a range of services and procedures not requiring overnight hospitalisation. 031 768 8409

Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital strives to provide excellent clinical outcomes since patient safety remains the priority. In ensuring your safety, Busamed Hillcrest is the first hospital to have two Intensivists on site on a full-time basis in the whole of KwaZulu-Natal. The ICU facility consists of specially trained and skilled staff, specialised technology and two resident Intensivists. Rigorous and comprehensive patient care is conducted. The High Care Unit provides committed care to patients who require care levels between ICU and general ward. Within the ICU there is two isolation rooms available for patients in need of isolation. Visiting in the ICU and High Care wards are strictly controlled for the patient’s well-being.

This is a 10-bedded unit consisting of two bedded and single rooms, and is primarily for patients with cardiac conditions. Visiting Hours are 11:00 to 12:00, 15:00 to 16:00 and 19:00 to 20:00. Only two visitors at a time and no children under 12. 031 768 8062

Consisting of eight theatres and a Cath lab, Busamed Hillcrest Private Hospital is equipped to meet the highest standard of surgical care. 031 768 8416

The dedicated Gastrointestinal Unit is equipped to perform upper and lower gastro intestinal endoscopies and bronchoscopies. Other specialised services include ERCP, as well as Capsule Endoscopy.

Café Java is situated on the ground floor and provides indoor and outdoor seating where you can enjoy refreshments, snacks, or meals.
