It is now six months since my discharge from Harrismith Busamed Hospital. I was admitted 6 days after I had a laparoscopy done at another medical institute and had resulted in an adverse reaction. I remember arriving at Busamed Harrismith’s the surgical ward and in a lot pain. The nurses were very calming and assured me that all would be well in no time. Their attitudes showed determination and eagerness to work, and then a “saint” was sent through in the form of Doctor H Zulu, Specialist General Surgeon.
I remember him explaining the procedure (laparotomy) he was going to do and possible after effects. The next thing I remember is waking up in ICU. I was amazed by the professionalism of all staff (nurses, cleaners, blood transfusion staff, porters, security, doctors, physiotherapists). I was completely helpless as I couldn’t even lift my hand without assistance, never even thought I would be able to walk/eat/bath on my own, however, everyone that walked past my bed kept reassuring me that I’m recovering daily.
My most sincere gratitude goes to Dr Zulu who kept both my mom & my brother’s sanity intact whilst ensuring that I get the perfect medical treatment, I heard that he was always available on call. How can I not mention nurse Khaya, his patience with me is commendable. I am truly thankful to have been a patient at this hospital and wish all the staff at this institution a prosperous life and future. May you continue to serve with dignity and dedication. Modimo a le boloke a le siretse a lefe kgotso.
