Busamed Gateway together with Oncology proudly participated in the Breast Cancer Awareness Event hosted by the Radisson Blu Hotel, in collaboration with the Pink Drive initiative. The event aimed to promote education, screening awareness, and the advancement of clinical care in breast cancer management.
Representing Busamed Oncology, Dr. Marion Algar delivered an insightful and impactful address on the advancements in breast cancer treatment and patient-centred care. In her presentation, she outlined the wide range of treatment modalities available to patients today — including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, and immunotherapy — highlighting how these approaches can be tailored to each individual’s diagnosis and treatment plan. She emphasized the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in oncology, underscoring collaboration between oncologists, radiotherapists, medical physicists, surgeons, and chemo nursing teams to deliver optimal and comprehensive cancer care. She also spoke about the vital role of ongoing education, early detection, and emotional support in improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
Funds raised during the event were donated to the Pink Drive Foundation, supporting their ongoing efforts to provide free breast cancer screening, mammography services, and community education to underserved populations across South Africa.
