Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital – Announcement of First Baby born in the New Maternity Unit.

The 29th of January 2021 marked a milestone for the Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital. It is with great pride and joy that we welcomed the birth of baby Atlegang Usame Nathi Segone, the first-born baby within our facility. Proud parents Somila Bici and Tshepo Segone were delighted to finally meet their baby girl who was born at 13:05pm at a healthy weight of 2.65kg and height of 51cm. Baby Atlegang will soon join her two older brothers and 18-month-old sister at home.

Baby Atlegang was proudly delivered by Dr Esther Rockson Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital who has walked this journey to parenthood with Somila and Tshepo for the second time. Dr Rockson explained after the birth that her passion for obstetrics lies in that moment when a baby is born and describes the feeling as absolute euphoria. “Hearing a baby cry for the first time and watching the expressions on the parents face when they first see their little one gives me a surreal sense of joy”.

Paediatrician Dr Refiloe Moreke was side by side with the team to ensure that baby Atlegang was healthy and that all vital signs were checked.
The hospital officially opened the maternity unit on Thursday the 29th of January 2021. The maternity offering is supported by fully equipped delivery rooms for natural births as well as state of the art theatre equipped for caesarean deliveries. The maternity unit is further complimented by a nursery and feeding room with a neonatal intensive care unit prepared with the latest technology to support babies with neonatal complications. The team of midwives believe in creating a positive birthing experience that supports both the clinical and emotional dimensions of care and a welcoming beginning to the exciting journey into parenthood.
