Busamed Gateway Private Hospital

Busamed Gateway Private Hospital recently reached out to a deserving patient, waiting for surgery at one of KZN’s provincial hospitals, for the prevention of cervical cancer. The procedure was offered pro bono at no cost to the patient or family, and done on Saturday 25th of October 2025.

Mrs Duma had an advanced minimally invasive laparoscopic hysterectomy,  rather than the traditional open surgery to remove the uterus.

This involves only 3 tiny 5mm cuts on the abdomen and surgery performed with the help of an endoscopic camera, with the uterus removed painlessly through the natural vaginal opening - allowing rapid recovery.

Mrs Duma has made a complete recovery and was very happy to have had in her words "the pain-free option hysterectomy", enjoying being able to walk, eat & shower the next morning without discomfort.

We at Busamed Gateway Hospital are grateful to Gynaecologists Dr Shafique Sayed, his wife Dr Ayesha Seedat who assisted him, Anaesthetist Dr Ian Lander, Physiotherapists Tyrone Naicker & Nerissa Vangan and Lancet Laboratory who generously took care of Mrs Duma at no charge.

We would also like to thank each & every member of the awesome Busamed team especially our Theatre & Ward staff for making this possible.

Busamed Gateway Hospital hopes to share in it's success by continuing to find deserving patients in our community, that can be offered state of the art medical care, in our mission to bring the highest standards of medicine to all our people in KZN.
