Lorenzo Moloi (20) Busamed Harrismith Private Hospital, sponsored runner, defied the odds by winning the Dumbe Trail Run (short distance), which took place from Saturday, 11th March 2022 to Sunday, 12th March 2022.
The Dumbe Trail Run is a two-day event that takes place on spectacular trails in the Northern Drankensburg. Many runners, even out of town, participate in the event, as the event also entails the beautiful view of the country, hospitality and memories for a lifetime. Part-taking in the event is a step in the right direction, for anyone aspiring to be a runner.
Lorenzo Moloi, the young man, defined his background unfortunate circumstances and made not only himself, but also his family proud by winning the short distance run challenge of the event. He came first place in both sections of the short distance run (11km and 12 km), winning the overall short distance first place prize.
To him this is more than an achievement, it is proof that he is a good runner and that he can after all achieve his dream of becoming a runner. The young, talented and promising runner also indicated that winning has provided him with a platform to motivate other runners who do not believe that they can achieve their dreams.
The win is his first step towards achieving his dream of becoming a national and international runner. Understanding that he still requires to work extra hard to achieve his dream, he has taken the win as motivation and the urge to want to work even harder to ensure that he achieves his dream.
“I am very excited that I won my first trail run. This has motivated me even more to become a runner. I will definitely be doing more running in the future and I hope to inspire other runners.”
Lorenzo is set to continue to train and to make sure that he utilizes every opportunity given to its maximum capacity, as he prepares for his bright future as a runner. BHPH will eagerly be watching his progress and will be encouraging him.
