Nursing is the foundation of medicine, without nursing, medicine would not survive. The level of responsibility placed upon our nurses is significant, as they are responsible for both the patient and the next of kin. Firstly, as relatives, we rely on the nursing care to assist in healing our loved ones. Doctors also rely on nurses to ensure that patients receive the prescribed care as determined by them.
Nurses are what we call medical warriors, as they care for and support their patients. They often stand for 12 hours shifts care for our loved ones. As we celebrate them on Nurses’ Day, we salute their incomparable dedication and love for their work.
Busamed Harrismith Private Hospital celebrated International Nurses’ Day on Friday, 12 May 2023, with an elegant function that captured the hearts of our nurses. Official guest, Ms T Lebenya was invited to provide the nurses with a motivational talk that will inspire them until the next nurses’ day. Prophet J Mthetwa also provided words of wisdom and encouragement. The event celebrated the nurses for their profession and bravery. “Your duties are close to God,” stated Prophet J Mthetwa.
The function was led by our very own, RN Nomonde Mkwanazi.
Our supporting doctors also provided supporting messages for our nursing staff: “Being a nurse is a profession full of difficulties and challenges with no thanks. You are great nurses, and you deserve a great thank you for your work. Wishing you a Happy Nurses’ Day!” from our resident General Surgeon, Dr Halalisani Zulu.
