Did you know? Busamed Hospital Group has partnered with Pelo Foundation, a Non-for-Profit Company, launched in June 2021, to address the plight of children from indigent communities who are born with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).
Pelo Foundation has a mission and vision to raise funds to ensure that children with CHD receive life-saving surgeries and continue to receive medical treatment that could give them a chance to life.
The partnership came about after Busamed Hospital Group was approached by medical specialists who were working in different public hospitals in the Eastern Cape and Gauteng, to assist in providing the most needed cardiothoracic surgery and treatment to children who have been on the public health system’s waiting list for the longest period.
Since its launch last year, Busamed Hospital Group has been supporting Pelo Foundation and has made it possible for ten children from the Eastern Cape to have the much-needed surgeries at two of our hospitals: Busamed Modderfontein, Gauteng and Paardevlei Private Hospital in Somerset West, Cape Town.
Our role has been to offer access to the Cath Labs, Cardiothoracic Theatres, Equipment as well as Human Resources, Paediatric ICU Sisters and supporting specialist needed for the surgeries and treatments. We have also provided accommodation and meals for a parent or a guardian accompanying the patient.
We continue to support Pelo Foundation’s vision of ensuring that Africa’s Children with Congenital Heart Disease from indigent communities can have a chance to make it to adulthood.
To our team of doctors that headed these surgeries, theatre staff and general workers, you all have been great. Thank you!
