Dr. Marion Algar is a Clinical and Radiation Oncologist based at Busamed Gateway Oncology Centre and Hopelands Cancer Centre. She graduated with an MBChB (with distinction in the clinical and final clinical examinations, and the degree with honours) from the University of Cape Town in 2013. After completing her internship at the Pietermaritzburg Hospital Complex, Dr. Algar served in the Oncology Department at Klerksdorp Hospital for her year of community service.
Returning to Durban, she worked as a medical officer in a private oncology practice before moving to Cape Town in 2019 to specialise in Radiation Oncology at Groote Schuur Hospital. Dr. Algar earned her Fellowship of the College of Radiation Oncologists of South Africa (FC Rad Onc) in 2022, along with her MMed (with distinction) from the University of Cape Town in 2023.
Dr. Algar joined Hopelands Cancer Centre in 2023. She treats a wide range of cancers, with a special interest in breast and gastrointestinal malignancies. Dr. Algar combines expertise and empathy to treat her patients with an integrated approach, while staying up to date with the latest innovations in oncology.
