Dr. Neil Barnes is a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and has a specific interest in Reconstructive Microsurgery. Dr Barnes also performs a range of general reconstructive surgery including surgery after cancer treatment as well as cosmetic surgery.
Dr Barnes obtained his Medical Degree from the University of The Witwatersrand in 2000. After post graduate training in General Surgery and Trauma he joined the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Kwa Zulu Natal in 2006.
He subsequently spent ten years working and training in the KZN Academic Plastic Surgery Department, mainly at the Inkhosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital. He has gained experience in a broad variety of Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery Operations and Academic Clinics. He has a particular interest in Reconstructive Microsurgery.
Dr Barnes obtained his Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2010 with The College of Medicine of South Africa. He started his private practice at Hillcrest Private Hospital in 2011 in a limited capacity but his practice has grown into full time practice. He is registered as a Specialist Plastic Surgeon with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and registered with the General Medical Council (UK).
Dr. Barnes also does sessional work as a Consultant for the University of Kwazulu-Natal.
