Amritha graduated in 2003 from the University of Natal Medical school. After her training and consultancy as a Specialist Physician, she branched out into the intriguing field of Rheumatology. This specialty indeed requires a fine eye and attention to detail. Rheumatologists manage various forms of arthritis; other autoimmune mediated conditions e.g Lupus, Scleroderma, Psoriatic arthritis; Osteoporosis; and chronic pain syndromes.
Dr Budhoo’s research on the clinical spectrum, antibody profile and outcome of Lupus in Durban, South Africa, awarded her an MMed degree.
Her experience with drug trials on biological therapies in arthritis, has opened doors for patients who are refractory to conventional treatment.
She is also skilled in the investigation and management of a variety of general medical conditions, collaborating with other specialists and therapists as indicated.
Dr Budhoo actively engages in networking and conferences to stay updated on the latest trends in her field, and holds membership on several societies and medical associations.
Outside of practicing medicine, she enjoys the arts, literature, decor and nature.
