Dr Farai Dube, MD has been in practice since 2002. He is a Cardiologist and Specialist Physician, as well as the founder of Sandton Heart Inc, who combines clinical experience and expertise with compassion and care. He has served as a Cardiology Fellow and Junior Consultant at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in the Division of Cardiology, and has been a past Registrar for Internal Medicine, University of Witwatersrand Registrar Circuit. He has also worked as a Medical Advisor at various institutions, and in the Public Health sector in roles such as Program Manager for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation. He currently provides clinical, diagnostic and interventional cardiology care, through Sandton Heart Inc. His main interest and expertise is in echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, device interrogation and implantation and preventative cardiology.
Dr. Farai was born and raised in Zimbabwe, he relocated to South Africa to pursue his medical studies and later practice. He graduated from the University of Transkei (Unitra), with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) and earned a Masters in Public Health (MPH) Health Systems and Policy, from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg South Africa. Dr. Farai is board certified in Internal Medicine by the Health Professions Council of South Africa. He has a strong research background and wrote the Infection Control section of the National Hospital Standards and Norms Guidelines, and contributed a chapter entitled Development and Implementation of Training Packages for PMTCT and Pediatric HIV Care in the book entitled From the Ground Up: A Guide to Building Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Programs in Resource-Limited Settings by the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
Farai is passionate about giving back to the community, he is involved in various outreach programs that include mentoring students, men’s groups, providing counselling, teaching life skills, volunteering at orphanages, clinics etc. He is also the founder of Savannah Wellness Solutions a personal health and corporate wellness service provider and he keeps fit playing tennis, jogging, fishing, participating in weekend marathons and more recently by learning to play golf. He is married to Portia an Investment banker, they have two children, and live in Johannesburg, South Africa.
