Clinical and Radiation Oncologist, and Palliative Care Specialist, Dr Fourie has 20 years medical experience. She is a renowned Honorary Lecturer at the University of Stellenbosch. Practicing throughout South Africa, Dr Fourietakes on a holistic approach with treatment, empowering her patients to understand their cancer, their treatment and recovery.
Dr Fourie has been in private practice since August 2016. She has rooms in Paarl, Stellenbosch and Somerset West. She focus on all cancer types with a specific interest in breast and GIT cancer. She engage discussions of each patient as part of the multi disciplinary team to ensure the best outcome for both the patient and family. She apply evidence based medicine as part of her daily practice.
A holistic approach is applied when managing each patient with involvement of all disciplines to make the journey easier for the patient. The family is seen as part of the team and family meetings are essential to address all the needs of the patient. She believes in educating the patient and the family to be able to make informed decisions regarding their treatment and also to equip the patient to take ownership of their disease.
Cancer is seen as a journey where all the necessary role players of the various disciplines are involved to make the journey easier for the patient and family. Symptom management focus on physical, emotional and psycho-social aspects.
