Dr Hoosain’s journey as part of the medical fraternity began as a pharmacy graduate. She then progressed her career by graduating as a medical practitioner in 2009. She graduated as a paediatrician in the year 2016 and completed a Mmed in the year 2017. This was followed by her graduation as a Paediatric Cardiologist in the year 2020 and completion of a MSc in Medicine degree in the year 2021.
She has held many leadership roles throughout her career and has actively been involved in many research initiatives. She has a joint appointment as a lecturer in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at the University of Witwatersrand. Her specialization focuses on the diagnosis and care of children who are born with heart conditions or develop diseases that affect the heart. Her skillset encompasses clinical assessments, echocardiography, diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, as well as peri-operative care of paediatric cardiac patients. It brings her great joy to know that she plays a part in the healing of the heart which enables a child to lead a fulfilled life.
