He trained as an Orthopaedic surgeon in Durban and furthered his training with a Fellowship in Joint replacement surgery in Wales followed by 7 years working in England as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon. Dr Mahomed returned with his family to Durban in 2015 to take up a Head Clinical Unit post at an Academic training hospital in Durban, Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital. He now works in full time Private practice based at Busamed Gateway and Westville Hospitals in Durban.
