Dr Mohammed Mehtar is an orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in foot and ankle surgery.
Dr Mehtar completed his undergraduate training at the University of Witwatersrand medical school (Wits) where he graduated with an MBBCh degree in 2008. He completed his internship at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in 2009 & 2010 and subsequently completed his community service in 2011 working in the rural areas of Orange Farm. Dr Mehtar enrolled for his post graduate training with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Wits university from 2013 to 2018 where he obtained his Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa.
He also graduated with a Masters of Medicine (Orthopaedic Surgery) degree from Wits university in 2018. From July 2018 to June 2019 Dr Mehtar completed a South African Orthopaedic Association endorsed Fellowship in Foot & Ankle Surgery at The Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Unit under the tutelage of Prof Nikiforos Saragas and Dr Paulo Ferrao. During this period he held an honorary post at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital where he was also involved in the clinical teaching and supervision of registrars. Dr Mehtar has attended various local and international courses and conferences and he is a member of the South African Foot Surgeons Association. He is actively involved in research and has been published in various journals.
