Dr Sekhoto is a Maxillo-facial and Oral surgeon who was born and bred in Zamdela township, in the Free State. She achieved her Bachelor of Dental Science from Wits School of Oral Health Sciences in 2007 and did her community service in Bethlehem, Free State. She then worked at oral health facilities at Tembisa hospital and Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic hospital where her passion for the speciality was ignited. She holds Master of Dentistry (MDent) in Maxillo-facial and Oral Surgery (MFOS) which is completed in 2019 from the University of the Witwatersrand, and a fellowship in MFOS from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (2019).
She currently works as specialist consultant and a lecturer at Wits School of Oral Health Sciences. Her special interest is in Orthognathic (jaw correction) surgery, Orofacial pain, Temporomandibular joint disorders, Dental implants, Trauma and Reconstruction as well as Teaching and Research. She has published in several peer reviewed journals and is a member of several university research committees.
She practices in both public and private sector because she believes in universal health care.
