Physician & Clinical Haematologist | Stem Cell Transplantation & Cellular Therapies
Dr Jaimendra Prithipal Singh is a specialist Physician and Clinical Haematologist with over two decades of experience in Internal Medicine, Haemato-oncology and stem cell transplantation.
A graduate of the University of Natal, where he obtained his MBChB Summa Cum Laude, Dr Singh completed specialist and subspecialist training at leading academic centres including King Edward Hospital, Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, Groote Schuur Hospital – University of Cape Town.
He has played a pioneering role in the development of advanced haematology services in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). As Head of the Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital, he established the first allogeneic stem cell transplant programme in KZN, an achievement recognised with the 2014 MASEA Award for Innovative and Outstanding Achievement in Medicine.
He subsequently established the first private Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit in KwaZulu-Natal.
His clinical interests encompass malignant haematology, stem cell transplantation and novel cellular and targeted therapies. His approach is centered on integrating established evidence-based treatments with advances in transplantation and cellular and targeted medicine, with the aim of providing patients with access to increasingly sophisticated and personalized treatment options.
Dr Singh has received numerous academic and professional distinctions throughout his career, including the MM Suzman Medal for the most distinguished candidate in the 2004 FCP examinations, the Reuben Mibishan Award for Clinical Haematology from the University of Cape Town, and a Discovery Fellowship. His early academic career was distinguished by exceptional performance across multiple disciplines of medicine.
With more than two decades of specialist experience, Dr Singh brings together clinical expertise, transplant leadership, academic training and a track record of establishing new specialist services. He remains particularly committed to advancing haematology and cellular therapy in KwaZulu-Natal, developing innovative treatment pathways for patients with complex haematological diseases, and upholding a strong commitment to innovation, excellence and compassionate patient care.
