Dr. Isabelle Steinberg is a specialist general surgeon with extensive experience in a wide variety of surgical procedures. She has a particular interest in oncoplastic breast surgery, minimally invasive surgery, head and neck surgery and general paediatric procedures.
She obtained her medical degree from the University of Pretoria, followed by internship and community service at 1 Military Hospital. Her early career included detached duty to Nelspruit Sick Bay, and two deployments to Burundi as a medical doctor, followed by clinical surgical experience at Pretoria Academic Hospital, Auckland City Hospital in New Zealand, and Paarl Hospital.
She completed her specialist surgical training at Tygerberg Hospital, obtaining her Fellowship in Surgery in 2013 and her Master of Medicine in Surgery from Stellenbosch University in 2014.
As a consultant at George Regional Hospital, she developed a special interest in oncoplastic breast surgery. She attended a workshop in oncoplastic breast surgery in Budapest in 2016 and subsequently gained 10 years of experience in this field.
She is passionate about teaching and mentoring doctors pursuing careers in surgery. She is a volunteer for the Flamingo Project.
