Prof Lalloo is an accomplished specialist in respiratory diseases, in particular. He has published over 150 manuscripts in international peer-reveiwed journals. He is an honorary life member of the South African Thoracic Society, the Society of Pulmonologists of the Indian Ocean Islands, and an honorary member of the European Respiratory Society. He has trained and mentored many pulmonologists, PhD students, and directs a dynamic clinical research program. He serves as a key opinion leader for therapeutics in respiratory diseases, and co-authored guidelines for treatment. He is one of a handful of academics who are Fellows of the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
When not consulting or busy with research, he spends time with his family, enjoys cooking, and off-road adventures. His family and he are keen hikers and have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Everest Base Camp, and Machu Picchu via the Salkantay trail.
