Prof Frans Maruma is a specialist dermatologist who holds a doctoral degree (PhD) in aesthetic dermatology and serves as the Head of Dermatology at the University of the Free State. He is highly trained and experienced in diagnosing and treating both common and rare skin, hair, and nail disorders in patients of all skin types and ages.
With advanced training in aesthetic medicine, diagnostic dermatopathology, general dermatology and dermatologic surgery, Prof Maruma is recognised for his expertise in caring for skin of colour, particularly in the management of pigmentary disorders as well as skin cancers. His clinical interests also include acne, eczema, psoriasis, hair loss conditions, scarring, and chronic skin diseases that require long-term, supportive care. He also has colossal interest in infectious and rare diseases of the skin.
