Prof Steven Matshidza is an Associate Professor and Head of Clinical Department of Orthopaedics at Universitas Academic Hospital, University of the Free State and Pelonomi Tertiary Hospital. Prof Matshidza is the Chairperson of the SAMA Free State Branch and a Member of the SAMA EST Committee. He is a Member of UFS Senate Committee and was a Member of the Executive Committee School of Clinical Medicine, UFS and was previously, an Executive Committee Member of the South African Orthopaedic Association (SAOA). He is now a member of Health Committee of the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAF). Prof Matshidza was previous HPCSA evaluator, intern evaluation committee and presently a member of HPCSA preliminary committee.
He is co-founder of the Limpopo Orthopaedic Outreach, Active member of Limpopo Rural Health matters and surgical outreach projects.
Prof Matshidza is the recipient of various appreciation certificates/awards from Vhembe district, Capricorn district, Limpopo Health department, Rural doctors Association Limpopo, SAMA, acknowledgements from HPCSA, National Minister of Health and RSA State President for the outreach done in Limpopo. Prof Matshidza formed part of the team that did the first robotic assisted knee replacement surgery in a rural Limpopo hospital.
Prof Matshidza published various international and national papers and invited as a speaker/faculty on various international and national Orthopaedic Conferences. His interest in research focuses on, Trauma, Musculoskeletal tumors, Arthroplasty and Orthopaedic Anatomy.
