About Dr Bomela:

Dr Bomela is a qualified Orthopaedic Surgeon (Specialising in Spine) with extensive experience providing superior patient care. She is a committed professional who fully adheres to the highest standards in orthopaedics. She utilizes a multimodal approach to holistically treat spinal patients.
Dr Bomela is currently the only female spine surgeon who is AO Spine Fellowship (an Internationally recognised fellowship) trained at UCT-GSH. This positions her as an ideal healthcare professional to manage spinal related conditions and surgery.

In her career path, she was involved in the following travelling fellowships:
  • Smith and Nephew SA travelling Fellowship in 2013.
  • SAOA German Orthopaedic Travelling Fellowship in 2015.

She is actively involved in academics at the University of Pretoria as a supervisor, lecturer and examiner to undergraduate medical students and post graduate orthopaedic registrars (Colleges of Medicine in South Africa).

Dr Bomela has been the guest lecturer for the International Olympic Committee Sports Medicine Diploma Workshop (University of Pretoria), for the past six years.

Dr Bomela served as a Spine Consultant at Steve Biko Academic Hospital and later moved to Kalafong Tertiary Hospital.

Dr Bomela has published several scientific papers in peer reviewed orthopaedic journals.
