I was admitted and already I had prepared myself for a disappointing experience, from my previous experience & “word on the street”!
I am myself a qualified nurse and so it’s not the “bells and whistles” that matter to me but the very basic Nursing Care and Management on the Ward.
Do u have to remind staff of your medication?
Do u have to ask for clean bedding?
Does someone come to check in on your comfort and give a kind word and ask if u need help with something.
I am really pleased to report back that I found the Nursing Care to be 5 Star. What struck me was that the staff came and introduced themselves to me.
There was a system!
Someone did vital observations, someone did meds, and then someone drs rounds and more specific nursing care.
THAT is nursing management!
The staff were kind and going about their duties like they loved their jobs and that is the biggest change i saw this visit.
Previously staff have taken their time attending to needs, spoken loudly in the passages, laughed, smirked and when asked to do something seemed to be unsure of how to carry the duty out.
A great pat on the back to Surgical 1 and the Registered Nurse in charge - she seems to have a great team all pulling in the same direction.
What a pleasure to have 1st Class Medical Care!
Kind Regards
Shirley
