In light of our Mental Health Unit, the hospital is proud to introduce Dr Gape Reginald Moroe, Psychiatrist. Dr Moroe, was born and bred in Thaba Nchu, Bloemfontein. He attended his primary education at Selosesha Primary School, and later Albert Moroka High School.
After completing his secondary education, he enrolled at The University of Limpopo (previously known as Medunsa), and compled his undergraduate degree in 1995. He began his internship at Pelonomi Hospital from 1995 – 1996. In 1997 he became a medical officer at Pelonomi Hospital until the year 1999. From 2000 – 2004 he became a registrar with the University of The Free State, specialising in psychiatry. Dr commenced practising as a Psychiatrist at Oranje Hospital in Bloemfontein between 2005 – 2006. In 2007 – 2008 he moved to Mpumalanga to practice as head of psychiatrics at Witbank Private Hospital.
In 2009 – 2010 he opened his own private practice in Bloemfontein, and practed as an independent specialist. Whilst practising as a private psychiatrist, he also joined Pelomoni Hospital as a psychiatrist from 2010 – 2016. Dr Moroe joined New Mental Hospital Group, West End Day Hospital, from 2017 until joining the Busamed Harrismith Private Hospital in 2022.
Dr Moroe has a wealth of experiences gained from years of practices. While general psychiatry is his first love, he has a special interests in mood disorders, forensic psychiatry and substance abuse.
During his spare time Dr Moroe enjoys all forms of angling and outdoor activities – especially camping and traveling. He is a frequent reader and enjoys spending time with family and being on Netflix.
Dr Moroe is a calm, good listener and down to earth person, displaying some of the best characteristics of a psychiatrist.
