Busamed Harrismith is proud to introduce to you Dr Thobile Msithini, our Resident Orthopaedic Surgeon. Dr Msithini was born and bred in Swaziland and Mpumalanga and matriculated at Bantfwabetfu Senior Secondary School in 1995.
Between 1998 and 2004, she completed her undergraduate education at Villa Clara Medical Faculty in Cuba, and the Nelson Mandela School of Medicine. Late 2004 to late 2005, she completed her internship with the Department of Health Mpumalanga, with Orthopaedic training. She did another year training between 2005 and 2006, as her community service at Themba Hospital situated in Kabokweni Village, just outside Nelspruit.
She became a medical officer in the Orthopaedic department at Themba Hospital from December 2006 – February 2008, advancing to a senior medical officer in the Orthopaedic department from March 2008 – February 2009 at Addington Hospital, South Beach Durban. In the following year she became a Medical Officer in the Orthopaedic Department, at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital. In 2010 she advanced to Orthopaedic Registrar at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.
In 2014, she completed her fellowship with the college of orthopaedic Surgeons SA and worked at Manapo Provincial Hospital, before joining Busamed Harrismith Private Hospital. Dr Msithini is a General Orthopaedic Surgeon with key interests in Arthroplasty and Joint Replacements.
She is currently doing research on “Wait time to see a spine” at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital and Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
Our well-grounded doctor, who also speaks Spanish, continues to practice as a resident Orthopaedic Surgeon at Busamed Harrismith Private Hospital.
